Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus ships tomorrow. As a big fan of Mortal Kombat back in the day, I've been watching this game's development pretty closely, but sadly, the first reviews that have hit the web haven't been overwhelmingly positive. IGN's isn't necessarily negative, but it's also not too positive either, and GameSpot gave the game a pretty meager 6.4. It sounds like it could be fun, with some really brutal AI, but it suffers from slowdown, which is really the kiss of death for a fighting game. And it's a shame, because the world could use another solid, brutal fighting game to keep us occupied until Soul Calibur 2 ships. Maybe I'll see if I can pick up Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance for cheap.

Console Game of the Evening: ToeJam and Earl for the Sega Genesis. "The original, not that fruity sequel. This game had a lot of things going for it; split-screen coop play, wacky items, bizarre enemies (cow in a plastic ball?) and rather unconventional gameplay. Well worth a play if you haven't already." (submitted by sputnik_1).

The Console Game of the Evening just happens to be my all-time personal console favourite. I even have it for my Genesis and may play a quick one just as soon as I can.

Hmm... Same here. I'm kinda stoked that my choice ended up in the line-up so quickly.
One of these days I'm going to get around to playing the 3rd iteration... the reviews don't look too favorable though.
