Warcraft 3 Expansion Preview

8

There's a preview of Frozen Throne on Action Trip, offering some hands-on impressions of this Warcraft 3 expansion pack. The preview goes over the new features and units, and some screenshots are included as well. Another preview can be found at PC Gameworld.

I've read all these previews mostly, and haven't heard of ANY engine enhancements.

That makes me a sad shark :/

I haven't really got to mess around with the beta yet, but there's a few new performance tweaks like new visual (sprite) effects for unit buffs (for slower computers I'd imagine).

But God forbid Blizzard is focusing on extra gameplay content instead of new tech. =)

I'm all for extra gameplay content and what not.

Just personally I like to see engine improvements which is why I'm such an id fanboy, and also why I'm a programmer :)

The engine is perfect, what did you have in mind?

        perfect? hardly.

I want higher poly models, with not slow down when there are losts of them on the screen.

Maybe the game could make you a sandwich and give you a massage while you're playing too .. ?

There are improvements that can be made assides from the engine. The unit logic can be improved(e.g. garg stupidity) and unit pathing can be attrocious at times(too many pauses). I would not expect that improving the poly count will be possible for slower machines.

so make the engine decrease the poly count per model until a minimum frame rate is set... or put it as an option in the settings.

              Plus read my post above.
