ATI Q&A

There's an interview with Ben Bar Haim on UK Gamer, asking ATI's VP of software about driver development at ATI and ATI's poor reputation when it comes to these drivers.

Every interview I read with ATI has covered this topic for like the last 8 months.

    I wish it would die.

I believe they have already begun the forced-obsolescence of the radeon all-in-wonder line. Plenty of major bugs to go too. What version of ati mmc are the new cards shipping with? I once proved that the new atimmc 7.x with tv-on-demand would work on a 6 year old mach64 card - if you fooled it into installing by switching cards out - because it checks and won't let you install it otherwise.

No one ever seems to ask this question - probably because they just hear the roar from the crowd about bad drivers, not experience themselves. Of course it's not like he gave a real answer. Bottomline - You have approximately 1.5 years of driver support for your particular card - after that SOL, call ati tech support "why don't you try our trade-in program!" Try tasting my ass.

if it did they would stop improving their shitty drivers, and that would not be good

LOL...at least ATi doesn't lower image quality as a means of getting better framerates.Yes they take the long hard road of optimizing sans image rape.
