No Halo 2 This Year Some sad news for Halo fans...Bungie has revealed on their official fan page that Halo 2 will not be released this year. On the plus side, they say the game will be shown at E3 this year, so at least we'll get a chance to see the game we won't be playing this year.
GameShark 2 v3.0 -- With Region Free DVD! MadCatz has announced that they are now shipping version 3.0 of their GameShark 2 utility for PS2. Like the previous version(s) it includes plenty of ways to cheat, but new to this version is the ability to watch DVD movies from all regions. This was previously available via a separate device, but it's very cool to see this integrated this way. Thanks Chris "Howard" Johnson for the tip.
| Ghouls n' Ghosts Online Revealed At GDC developer Zona was showing off Ghouls n' Ghosts Online, which as its name would seem to suggest is a massively multiplayer action game, for pretty much every major home platform. The first details are up at IGN, and GameSpot has their own write up, which is accompanied by two movies, but sadly that's subscriber-only. |
New Stuff from Logitech At GDC this week Logitech announced a crapload of new stuff for PS2: there's a standalone version of the USB headset that shipped with SOCOM, a special mouse & keyboard set, and news that the long-awaited NetPlay controller (which features an integrated keyboard) will be released here this fall. Details on some of this stuff can be found on Logitech's homepage. One thing they didn't come right out and say was whether or not they'll be doing an official steering wheel for Gran Turismo 4, but IGN got them to all-but-confirm that they are in talks to do just that.
Upcoming PSO Quests Some details on upcoming downloadable quests for Phantasy Star Online can be found at Games Are Fun tonight.
| EA Connects Nintendo Systems Electronic Arts and Nintendo announced this week that they are collaborating to bring GBA/GameCube connection extras to upcoming EA games. Oddly enough, it's Shigeru Miyamoto himself who will be helping EA with this, which brings to mind the question: is there anything this guy doesn't do lately? |

Well, at least it'll have a good soundtrack. SCi Games has announced that they have acquired the rights to make games based on Reservoir Dogs, the 1992 1. Tarantino flick that officially ruined "Stuck in the Middle With You" for many of us. On a totally different note, more artists have been announced for the Amplitude soundtrack.
Amped 2 Announced Microsoft has announced Amped 2, which will be released later this year and will be Xbox Live-enabled. Alongside the official announcement is a new trailer (look on the sidebar), and GameSpot has a Q&A up with members of the Amped 2 team.

Console Game of the Evening: Sin and Punishment for the Nintendo 64. "Easily the best shooter the N64 ever saw, this game oozes a style all its own. Great controls and a clever co-op mode where both players share control over one character are just a few examples of the game's goodness." (submitted by NoFace).

Hell, Bungie will be happy enough when (or perhaps if) Gearbox pumps out Halo PC.
