Late Night Consoling

After a few months of anticipation, Nokia today finally released the first batch of details from their N-Gage cellphone/gaming system. For the info, check out Nokia's official site, as well as this game movie and Monkeystone video interview at FileShack, and GameSpot's hands-on impressions from today's press event in London. As GameSpot reported today, the N-Gage has some serious developer support already, with Activision, Eidos, Sega, Taito and THQ all on board to make games. This means a lot, since without the right developer backing, this would be another Lynx or GameGear. So what do I think? The specs are certainly impressive, and it's admirable that it includes bluetooth, an MP3 player and FM radio out of the box. My only concern at this point is that it's still primarily a mobile phone, and so that has to factor in when considering whether or not to get one of these. From the pictures and information available, I'm going to have to pass on this one. T-Mobile has signed on as the global services provider, and I'm a satisfied Sprint customer, but what really will keep me away from the N-Gage (for now) is that like most PDA/Cell Phone combo units, it doesn't look like a very good phone, or at least, not a particularly comfortable one for those of us who still put these things to our ears (no car means no headset). But any competition for Nintendo's a good thing, and the features list really is impressive. So what do you all think?
