IGI2 SP Demo

47

Following the release of the multiplayer beta a week ago, Codemasters has now released a single player demo of IGI 2: Covert Strike. The 138mb demo contains a mission "set in a goldmine in the Carpathian foothills of Romania and sees David Jones, our IGI (Institute for Geotactical Intelligence) agent, investigating the theft of an advanced nano-technology device by an organised crime syndicate". Also check out the latest interview about the project on Gaming Invasion.

indeed; so far, Half-Life's AI still leads the pack in most realistic. Deus Ex's was too inept at times, and SoF2's was too inhuman.

nonsense, we all know diakatana had the best ai...and gameplay for that matter!

Ghost Recons was pretty damn decent (especially after Island Thunder came out)
still predictable though... I think the key is the predictability... Half Life Marines had NO predictability.

Hmm...i have GR and found the AI to be somewhat predictable. Aka if i went through a level a certain way each time, they'd usually do something very similar. Plus they walk into death traps etc. "wow 4 of my buddies just walked straight down this path and died, lets do that too" Of course i'm a loser who plays castle almost exclusively. (considering that's the demo level why the fuck did i buy it?) But does island thunder add to the overall AI or is it just that they scripted the maps out well? in other words does it enhance it when playing old missions too?

the ai seems ok so far.

i shot out a camera so a gaurd came to check it out, i hid in a small bush and he didn't see me (no wallhacking action), then i shot a gaurd 20ft away from another guard with the silenced glock, and he went for the alarm wich triggered a search party of about four guys with AKs, i took cover and killed one, then a grenade landed at my feet.

but thats from about 2 mins of play. seems promising.

how good do the weapons feel? Do they sound realistic, or powerful? Can you hear the bullets tearing flesh like in SoF2, or is it all nerfy like UT2K3?

the guns feel and sound good. the hit noises vary between the enemy vocal sound and the bullet hitting them, its not as super gruesome as sof2.

I find the weapon feeling rather bad actually, and I didn't really like the way the enemies fit in the scenery either, they seemt like pasted in. The whole game seems like a mixed bag of all little elements which just don't seem to fit together. It didn't meet my expectations at all.

      Operation Flashpoint has excellent AI.

... that can snipe you with an AK from 400m.
