Gearbox Interview

23
HomeLAN has a really lengthy and interesting interview with Randy Pitchford of Gearbox Software touching on all kinds of things going on over there. From the dropping of the Condition Zero project to the recent shipping of their Bond title to the work on the Halo PC port.

Having said that, Gearbox has some real goals in technology and in game design that it must do on its own. I’m not talking about Bond: Nightfire – EA designed that game and the team here pretty much did what they were told. I’m talking about our long term goals and strategy. We’ve got some really strong ambitions and we have the capability to execute on those ambitions. Gearbox has never been stronger, nor have we ever had more dedicated, talented, productive and very smart people than we have now. We’re ready more than ever before to show the world what we’re made of. Everything we’ve done thus far has been practice and preparation.

Steve Gibson is the cofounder of Shacknews.com. Originally known as sCary's Quakeholio back in 1996, Steve is now President of Gearbox Publishing after selling Shacknews to GameFly in 2009.

"I applaud the Bond team at Gearbox for their ability to get the job done to specification and I applaud the folks at EA for their success in the launch."
