TNN Gaming Awards on TV?
The show will run in the fourth quarter of 2003, but much still must be locked down, including the qualifying rules, date and location. Hecht said he wants to hold the event in Las Vegas and hopes to attract as presenters and performers a range of talent from movies, music and sports, all of which increasingly appear in video games. Other categories include coolest villain, hottest heroine, soundtrack, hottest graphics, pro sports game, celebrity actor and actress in a game and "most addictive." The show also will honor "Game of the Year" and give out at least one award whose winner may not be thrilled: "Most Difficult to Master."
The choice of running the show at the end of the year is really pretty strange though to say the least, and from the AIAS agrees:
"The game industry is not interested in supporting a show that honors games they don't even have on the shelf anymore," said Paul Provenzano, president of the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, which runs the 6-year-old Interactive Achievement Awards.
The TNN folks say that they will try to put a bit of focus from the show towards upcoming titles though. I would like to nominate Maarten to host the awards show.

TechTV is the suck! They need some real shows on there. The Tech of My Nutts is nothing spectacular, it's mostly info that is already known to people who are interested in watching such a show. ScreenSavers, the only thing that keeps that show alive these days is Martin he is hilarious and needs his own 30 minute show on TechTV. They plan to have a Anime hour on TechTV but ADVFilms will be launching an entire channel to anime so TechTV will again be the suck. Extended Play? WORST SHOW EVER! Adam Sessler needs to lay off the speed, that guy is a freak and the show has only gone downhill since his partner left. If you want gaming on television there is a little channel called G4TV, might want to check it out. Even Electric Playground on Discovery is better than Extended Play, atleast the guys are half normal there (they are now on G4TV with a show called Judgement Day).
There is only a few things that could save TechTV now but they wouldn't know what to do about it. Cover conferences and gaming events (CES, E3, ECTS, Comdex, CPL, etc) correctly, meaning put the vide camera on the floor more and get live action. They need professional shows such as a 30 minute show for UNIX or programming that appeals to people who they are now turning away with such shows as Call for Help.
This is my opinion, and it's a pretty good one. If you have TechTV and know what I'm talking about then you would agree. The game industry has more than enough support, the only bad media that surrounds the industry is all those parents who put false blame in video games that they feel make their children kill themselves or people. Like the Everquest kids, they dont think they would die playing with pen and paper 20 years ago? Think again.
