Splinter Cell Crash Fix

now how to fix the problem I have?
whenever I start the game, whenever I start the mission and sometimes whenever the program feels like it, it will just throw me back to the desktop, I have to click on splinter cell in the taskbar, it will show me the intro movie then throw me back to the desktop, when I click on it again it will get me back to the game... till the next time.

winxp home, p4 2.0, geforce 4 mx 460, det 4.whatever drivers (the latest version)

  I have an Xbox, with Splinter Cell, and no bugs. Heheh @ PC users of this game.

    Hehe. I was going to say the solution for all the bugs it to buy an Xbox and the game.
    
    Heck, its cheaper than buying a new video card to play it with.

      let's just pretend I hardly had enough money to even download this from fileshack (since time is money and I spent a lot of time there...), how would I be able to get an xbox AND the game, considering I lost all the giveaways and sweepstakes?
      that is the real question here...

      I'm just saying for $250 you can get the Xbox, 2 other games and Splinter Cell. No bugs/driver issues/sound/control/crashing problems at all. That's cheaper then getting a video card on the computer that can actually run the darn thing.

        Oh yeah, plus with the Xbox version you get built in 5.1 DTS sound.

        wank, its still a console and it still doesn't have as many games as pc. and 5.1 dts isn't exactly Xbox exclusive, nForce anyone?

        $250 is as much as I get in 3 months...
        also no patches, bugfixes, free demos and mouse, at least not without additional expenses...
        and I already have a geforce4, a low-end one, but better than my previous card, a voodoo 2...
