Valve sent along word that they are looking for a senior engineer. Here's what they need: "We're looking for a senior software engineer with a background in e-commerce and database engineering. In general we're always interested in talking with lead engineers who've actually shipped a good product, but in this particular case we're especially interested in talking to people with experience in the large scale deployment of commerce and database systems.
