Late Night Consoling

101

Thanks to some of our loyal readers, I was able to get Tony Hawk 3 to work with my PS2 network adapter. And hey, it's pretty fun, too. Since the game's been out for so long now there weren't all that many games in progress, and the ones I joined weren't particularly newbie friendly. Still, I'm pleased to see that it works at all, as it means I've got one more game to try out with my network adapter. Neato. In other news, there probably won't be an LNC EX tomorrow night. Not definitely, but probably not (what can I say...it's been a light week for controversy).

GameCube PS2 GameBoy Advance September NPD Sales The NPD top-10 sales figures are up at GameSpot tonight. Madden 2003 stayed on top at #1 for this month, followed by Kingdom Hearts' debut at #2, Mario Sunshine at #3, and SOCOM and Tekken 4 rounding out the top 5. Note that there isn't a single Xbox game on the September list (something that might change soon, with several big-name Xbox games in the coming weeks).
GameCube GameBoy Advance Phantasy Star Online GBA Connection Details Cube.IGN has posted some details on Phantasy Star Online's use of the GBA to GameCube connection. To get goodies like NiGHTS for GBA, you'll have to complete a specific quest in December, and others will be available in a similar fashion. I purchased a GBA to GC cable specifically for this game, so I'm hoping for good stuff here.
GameCube Zelda Movies New direct-feed gameplay movies from The Legend of Zelda: <untranslatable> are up at Cube.IGN. Hopefully Nintendo will announce an English title already...otherwise I'm going to start calling it "Winds of Tact" and that sounds really, really stupid. Or maybe I'll just call it "The Game Formerly Known as The Legend of Zelda."
GameCube Metroid Movies Also at Cube.IGN tonight are some new movies showing off Metroid Prime. Specifically they show off the ball movement and the 3D map.
GameCube PS2 Xbox Mortal Kombat Movies More footage from Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance has hit the web...Xbox.IGN and GameSpot both have new movies, which show off lots of different stuff (GameSpot's even shows another fatality).
GameCube PS2 Xbox GameSpot Reviews A ton of early holiday releases are reviewed at GameSpot tonight...first up are separate but nearly identical reviews of the GameCube (9.2), PS2 (9.5) and Xbox (9.3) versions of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, followed by new reviews of Toe Jam & Earl III: Mission to Earth (5.0) and House of the Dead III (6.4) for Xbox and Contra: Shattered Soldier (7.6) for PS2.
Console Game of the Evening: Final Fantasy VIII for the PSOne. This game has its detractors, but I loved it. It also has the best ending I've ever seen in a video game, hands down.
