Late Night Consoling
Well it ain't Final Fantasy XII, but Square's big game announcement has come out...and it's Final Fantasy X-2, a direct sequel to Final Fantasy X. Presumably this replaces the two side games that were originally announced. Aside from the initial craziness that Square's making a direct FF sequel (a definite first) this game looks very different in tone, at least in terms of its heroine. From the initial shots and media, Yuna, the quiet, reserved star of the first game, now sports a skimpy wardrobe and dual pistols. How on earth they're going to be able to justify this one is beyond me, but the gist of it is that she's off on a quest of self discovery (which apparently entails shedding some clothing). A good summary of the known info and scans of all the current media are all up at GameForms. Expect more details soon from this very surprising announcement.
Xbox Live Details ariakaz sent along a link to the unofficial Xbox FAQ, which now has a section devoted to "Premium Content" that will be available for Xbox Live, which may surface in the form of exclusive new items that can be purchased for an extra fee. This is interesting reading as not much has been released about this as of yet.
North American Hardware Sales IGN has posted a new edition of their monthly graphs column, showing the North American hardware sales for September. Nothing too surprising, with Sony well in the lead and Microsoft edging out Nintendo for second place.

SNK Returns? This teaser site hints that next Friday we may see some kind of SNK/Neo Geo USA announcement. What exactly? Damned if I know. But the fanboys are already excited, I'm sure. Me, I just like using that Neo Geo logo.
Cube Club Stuff IGN swung by the L.A. leg of Nintendo's Cube Club tour, and they have posted a slew of direct-feed movies showing off the various games there. Specifically they have new media from The Legend of Zelda, Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Metroid Prime, Metroid Fusion and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. They also have a Metroid timeline, showing where the two new games fit into the series and details about their whole experience there.
BMX XXX Banned in Australia The anti-publicity for BMX XXX rolls on, as the game has been refused classification by the Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification, and therefore will not be released in that country. In other XXX-rated news, the soundtrack listing from the game is up at IGN, along with some new shots. Not that it matters if you live in Australia, of course.
Guilty Gear X2 Announced Sammy has announced that Guilty Gear X2 will be released in America early next year. Shots from the localized version of the game are up at IGN.
