According to PS2.IGN, Sega and D3's new venture 3D Ages will "redevelop" classic games from the Genesis, Saturn and Dreamcast systems. Oddly enough the first two games mentioned are Monaco GP and Fantasy Zone, neither one of which appeared on any of those platforms (although as IGN points out, there was Super Monaco GP for the Genesis). While I do cherish my memories of Fantasy Zone, a straight port of the Sega Master System original to the PS2 would be a terrible idea. GBA, yes. But PS2? Heck no. On the other hand, a total 3D reinvention of the franchise is something I've been hoping for for years now, but I know I'm in the minority here. No matter how much I love the guy, Opa Opa will never be the sort of mascot Sonic or Mario is. With any luck we'll get some more details on these games very soon.

GameCube GameBoy Advance Nintendo Lowers Financial Projections According to a report on Reuters (and in turn mentioned at GameSpot) Nintendo has told investors that it expects its midyear profits to be 77 percent lower than expected. Much of this is actually due to currency valuations, but they do also mention the slow hardware sales in several markets (most notably Japan and Germany) and they have cut their hardware projections by 17 percent for the GameCube and 21 percent for the GBA. They also mention their losses were slightly offset by the sale of their stake in Rare, of which they received $183 million.
GameCube Skies of Arcadia Legends Q&A A new Q&A with Overworks' Rieko Kodama is up at GameSpot tonight, talking with him about Skies of Arcadia Legends, the GameCube port of Skies of Arcadia.
Xbox DOA: Code Chronus before Ninja Gaiden? Here's a surprise...despite being only 30% complete, Dead or Alive: Code Chronus (working title, hopefully to change) which is being developed by the same team responsible for DOA: Xtreme Volleyball (how appropriate), may actually ship before Ninja Gaiden. If you've been following the long saga of this game, you may recall that Ninja Gaiden was originally supposed to be a PS2 launch title, and has been continually pushed back again and again.
PS2 Xbox Malice Delayed? Speaking of delays...citing inside sources, Computer and Video Games is reporting that Malice has been pushed back into 2003. If their news item is to be believed, this is due to framerate problems, although a Vivendi Universal spokesperson reconfirmed the game's November release date.
GameCube DivX on GameCube Factor 5 and DivX Networks announced today the availability of an SDK for developers looking to include DivX video compression in their GameCube games. Hopefully this provides better results than whatever codec Nintendo used for Mario Sunshine, as compression artifacts were all over those movies.
PS2 BMX XXX Trailer For those of you wondering how bizarre a game can get...here's a trailer for BMX XXX, Acclaim's new raunchy extreme sports game.
GameBoy Advance Tomb Raider: The Prophecy Trailer A new trailer for Tomb Raider: The Prophecy for GBA is up at Computer and Video Games tonight.
Console Game of the Evening: Radiant Silvergun for the Sega Saturn. While I'm no superfan of the genre, this game is a masterpiece of scrollin' shooter action.
