ATI Catalyst v02.3

16

ATI has released a new set of Catalyst drivers, v02.3 for WindowsXP, WindowsME, and Windows2K. You can grab them all from FileShack, make sure to uninstall your v02.2 drivers and reboot first though. Thanks HardOCP

So that's not a VIA issue?

Given that I've seen infinite loop errors on Intel chipsets (i845, i815, 82440BX), I'd have to say that, no, it's not a VIA issue.

I like nVidia, but ATI is doing a great job so no bashing from me. I'm even considering their 9700 pro when I get a little more cash.

No, they're not improving. Try the All in Wonder drivers.

I'm sorry, I'm no fanboy. I own the two best cards from both companys. The 9700 Pro and the Ti 4600. The 9700 Pro has serious issues. I'll use whichever card runds the fastest with the most reliable performance. I know that my GeForce 4 will play GTA3, NWN, and any other game I want to play. In all fairness, it's likely because game developers develop on nVidia hardware. However, to me, a gamer it doesn't matter. The fact is, there are still some graphical glitches, some functionality issues, and some games just don't run on the ATi. I know the ATi part is capable of being faster, but the cost is too high. You trade compatibility for a minor speed boost and the real boost only comes when you crank the extras like anisotropic filtering and FSAA.
