Late Night Consoling

Last night I posted a tongue-in-cheek link in the ER comments to this page at EB Games, which allows you to pre-order Half-Life 2 for the Xbox, which they say will be coming out on 1/6/03. I think some people missed the joke. To clarify: there is no way in heck this is real. Don't panic. Whether or not Half-Life 2 is in development for the Xbox (and considering the game's never been announced we have no way of knowing if it even is), this is not the time to start protesting Valve's horrible decision to abandon their PC fans. Relax. Eventually, someday, in the distant future, Valve will announce this game (we think). Chances are that it will be coming out for the PC, and considering the number of rumors to suggest this, it's a likely Xbox title as well. But don't get all up in arms before the game's announced...it's just a waste of good flame bait.

PS2 Summoner 2 Gold As noted in this news item at GameSpot, Volition's PS2 RPG Summoner 2 has gone gold, and will be in stores on September 13th.
PS2 Xbox PS2, Xbox Price Drops in Europe Because one company can't operate without a reaction from the other, Sony dropped the price of the PS2 in Europe to around $250 today, followed nearly immediately by Microsoft, who dropped the price of the Xbox to the same thing.
GameCube Mother 3 Still Alive? Here's a weird bit of news, apparently Mother 3, the former 64DD RPG that was considered long dead and buried, may be back in development.
Xbox Xbox "Advantage" Movie Microsoft has posted an "Xbox Advantage" movie on their official Xbox site, with clips and highlights from various titles for the system (thanks PlanetXBox).
Xbox Dreamcast Ikaruga, Steel Battalion Review Scores The Japanese magazine Famitsu has come out with their latest review scores...Tekki (known as Steel Battalion in the US) scored an excellent 37/40 (9, 9, 9, 10) while Treasure's DC swan song Ikaruga racked up a respectable 36/40 (8, 10, 10, 8).
GameCube PS2 Xbox GameBoy Advance Latest Japanese Sales Figures Yep, it's that time of the week again...time to ogle the latest sales figures from Japan, as posted over at PlanetXbox. Nothing too surprising this week, the PS2's still in the lead and the Xbox is still last.
GameCube PS2 NightFire Preview PS2.IGN was able to get a few minutes with Gearbox's 007: NightFire and they have posted their hands-on impressions of the game. Cube.IGN also jumped on the NightFire bandwagon, posting a few new screenshots from the GameCube version of the game.
GameCube Batman Shots Also at Cube.IGN tonight are some new shots from Batman: Dark Tomorrow.
GameCube PS2 Xbox Capcom's New Fighter While the target home system has yet to be revealed, Capcom has shown a glimpse at a new 3D fighter they're working on, which features classic Capcom characters (although nothing from Marvel or SNK yet).
GameBoy Advance Chessmaster Ships Okay, so it's not the sexiest game in the world, but Chessmaster for the GBA has shipped. I'm a huge fan of the Game Boy Color version of the game (even though I suck at it) so I'm going to have to run out and get this one.
Console Game of the Evening: Chessmaster for the Game Boy Color. As I mention above, I suck at this game, but I've found it's one of those perfect games for a long plane ride.

After about 10 hours of play I'm getting kind of bored with it. SMB2 is so much more fun.

Yeah, I was referring to Super Monkey Ball 2. Mario 2 was absolute trash.

I wasn't sold on it after playing the demo but because it's Mario on Nintendo I knew it was a keeper. I'm glad I plunked down the 50 bean for it. It's taken me about 2 hours to get 3 shines, and i've been interested the whole while. It's very artistic.
