Late Night Consoling
So last night we finally got our first glimpse of GTA: Vice City in action, and I must say, I'm impressed. While the verdict's still out on the actual gameplay, it's certainly evident from these clips that the game is a nice step up visually. It's not a huge step (everything's still a little boxy) but that's a side effect of having the huge city all at once, and I'm fine with that. Now someone just needs to do an in-depth hands-on preview and I'll know for sure if I'm going to drop everything to pick this one up this Fall.
Oh. My. God. Just when you thought the "Name Yourself Turok" contest couldn't get any more disturbing, comes "Name Your Kid Turok."
Sam & Max Formally Announced LucasArts today formally announced a sequel to Sam & Max Hit the Road, the classic (and well-reviewed) adventure title from almost a decade ago. While it's not named specifically, it's a safe assumption that this is the same game Justin Chin's Infinite Machine recently confirmed was in development for next-generation consoles, although it's unknown if IM is still involved, as rumors suggest the company has folded, and the press release says Michael Stemmle of LucasArts will be directing the title.
Mario, Mario, Mario The game's definitely on store shelves now, so if you want to know how it is, check out IGN's review (which is now available to non-subscribers) and PlanetGameCube's roundup.
PS2 Network Adapter Ships For those of you itchin' for some online PS2 action, the network adapter has finally shipped, as has SOCOM: Navy Seals (which GameSpot gave a pretty favorable review to).
Move Over Yamamuchi Nintendo's former head isn't the only one who can bitch and moan in public, Capcom's Shinji Mikami, best known as the creator of Resident Evil, spoke out on a Japanese radio show about the cheapness of Sony's manufacturing (accusing them of building them so cheap you have to buy more than one) and attributing the Japanese sales of Kingdom Hearts to "aura purchasing" where one person buys it because everyone else has.
FFXI on PC First? Square recently confirmed that the PC port of Final Fantasy XI will be released in the US in 2003. Considering that Sony is tight-lipped about the status of the PS2 HD in this country, it is entirely possible that the game could be out for PCs before its PS2 release stateside.
Yakuza on Cube It's appeared on Xbox and PS2, and now Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions has been confirmed as a GameCube title.
More Tokyo Game Show Rumors The rumor mill is flying about the upcoming Tokyo Game Show...now some people are predicting that Sonic Adventure 3 for GameCube and Xbox will be announced, as will a new Shining Force, the new game from the developers of ICO and a new project from Naughty Dog. Be sure to have some salt with that one.
Ikaruga GC Only Sorry PS2 fans, it looks like Ikaruga will only be ported to the GameCube. Treasure cites difficulties in moving the game to the PS2, as it was originally developed for Sega's NAOMI arcade hardware. |
