Late Night Consoling
As has been widely reported around the web today, next week begins "the great experiment" as Sony ships their network adapter, and thus ushers in a new era in console gaming. Or not. The sky will not open up, millions of people won't suddenly go online, and pretty much everyone involved has reasonable expectations for the whole thing. I suspect the most popular games will definitely turn out to be the sports titles, as there are a lot of enthusiastic gamers just clamoring for a real challenge. As for stuff like Tribes and SOCOM, it'll be interesting to watch how they do.
Metroid(s) Update At Nintendo's Gamers Summit attendees were able to check out both Metroid Fusion and Metroid Prime, both of which it was announced will ship on November 18th. Here's links to IGN's previews of Fusion and Prime both of which are quite enthusiastic. Also announced at the summit was that there is some kind of GBA to GameCube connection for the games, although it hasn't been announced as of yet just what that connection does
More Nintendo Gamers Summit There's lots more from that gamers summit...here are new shots from Mario Party 4, Animal Crossing, Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, Tony Hawk 4, Wario World, Star Fox Adventures and Metroid Prime for the GameCube, and Yoshi's Island, Metroid Fusion, Kirby and the e-Card Reader for the GBA. IGN also has their hands-on impressions of the e-Card Reader online.
Mario Sunshine Update The game ships Real Soon Now, but if you're still interested in knowing the basics about the game, Nintendo has launched their official Super Mario Sunshine site.
More GTA: Vice City Scans Here are some more scans from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, taken from this month's issue of PSM.
Xbox Linux Project Progress It's not terribly exciting yet, but more progress has been made in the Xbox Linux Project. Version 0.1 has been released, and once loaded, the system is network-aware, and can be accessed via telnet.
Steel Battalion Update As noted in this post at PlanetXbox, Capcom's official Japanese Steel Battalion site has been updated with a look at more weapons from the game.
Seiken Densetsu Confirmed as a Remake It's official: the upcoming GBA Seiken Densetsu will be an updated port of the original game, which was released in America under the name Final Fantasy Adventure.
Mean Old Man Still Talking Sure he's retired, but that won't stop former Nintendo head Hiroshi Yamauchi from complaining about the industry to anyone that will listen. |
