Evening Reading

Been watching some bits of HLTV today of the big CPL event in between attempts to play the catch-up game with email. My inbox seems to be winning the battle the past few days. I need one of those huge McDonalds cups to brighten my day I think. Oh and for cat#2 to shut up for like 5 minutes straight for once. That would be super. Here are the stories for the evening:

- A bit on Wired about game engine movies
- Kinda old but had this one pointed out today, China vs MS! They are #3 on the net btw.
- Go hug a geek
- History of chocolate
- WebTV virus, uhoh

Lastly, we are all going to die in 2019. I'm gonna die if I see that same piece of artwork in one more asteroid article.

I've overcome my fear of dentists. I actually look foward to any mouth surgery. I dunno why. I actually enjoyed getting my molar pulled out.

Actually, dental technology has improved incredably in the last fifty years. I had a root-canal a few minths ago and it was nowhere near as bad as some fillings I had when I was a kid. The tools and techniques have come a long way.

there is a ton of new tech in dentistry.. it's pretty amazing how fast paced it is actually..

as for the drill, that's not going away anytime soon... there are a lot of mechanical principles and preparation designs that are not easily duplicated with alternative devices

it's a lot better than having a filling done without it.. and let me tell you, i would do anything to not have to give injections.. believe it or not it can be just as stressful on our end

Went to my dentist once when I was a kid (~10). I had a pinhole cavity and he, being an older guy with failing eyes, couldn't find it. I kept directing him to the tooth but he insisted on poking around with that curved pointed probe. He found the cavity and pressed down so hard on it that I saw stars... It was almost 20 years ago but I'm actually getting fidgety thinking about this again. Ever since, I've HATED the dentist.

There's always the little bastard that screws up everything for all the other dentists.

Then, there was time I went to see him to sign for a prescription for penicillin for an infected gum I had. He totally ignores the scrip I have in my hand, grabs me and seats me in his chair.. and proceeds to get a scalpel out to do a gingevectomy on the infected gum. I stopped him just in time and explained why I was there and made it out with my gums intact..

Thankfully he retired shortly after this.
