Late Night Consoling

4
As noted on Slashdot and the Atari Museum, Atari was officially incorporated 30 years ago today. I won't attempt to summarize 30 years of the company's history here, but suffice to say without Atari, this post wouldn't be possible. I do of course have some issues with how the Atari name has been used in the last few years...after being primarily an arcade developer, Hasbro Interactive brought the Atari brand back for their retreads of classic games. When HI was bought by Infogrames, the Atari name became a banner label for a strange collection of games, which includes stuff like Neverwinter Nights and Unreal Tournament 2003. I guess it's cool to see the Atari logo widely used again, but you have to wonder what it stands for these days.

Resident Evil GC Info
Capcom finally announced information about their Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis GameCube ports. The two games will be out in November and December respectively, for the bargain-pricing of $19.95. Unfortunately they have not added "a single polygon" to the games, so there's not much incentive here if you've already played the games (and probably not much even if you haven't).

Dreamcast Ikaruga Dreamcast-bound
It's official: Ikaruga, the latest Naomi-based shooter from Treasure, will be released for the Dreamcast in Japan. While this game's no Radiant Silvergun, fans should definitely plan on importing this one as soon as they can, as it won't be available for long.
Xbox Xbox TVs?
Apparently RCA will be releasing televisions with an "Xbox Ready" logo. Don't look for anything unique here though, as the only real difference is the labeled video game plug on the back, which uses a component input for optimal image quality.
Xbox Xbox MAME Yoinked
Even though it wasn't usable to anyone without a modded or development system, Microsoft has ordered the Xbox port of MAME to be pulled from the official site.
