Late Night Consoling
My quest to tweak these nightly posts continues...here are the latest versions being floated around. That URL has my most recent attempt, along with two reader-submitted tweaks and my obscenely large one from last night. The one I did this evening features sans sarif-fonts (no more courier!) and omits the headlines altogether for space concerns. As usual, feedback is appreciated.
- Microsoft made their big Xbox Live announcement in Japan today, announcing that some 47 titles are in development for the network, and that the Japanese kit will retail for $54.50, and will include the headset and year's subscription like its American counterpart, but according to one source, it will also include Phantasy Star Online episode 1. That's more like it!
- In other online console news, GameSpot has posted a hands-on preview of Final Fantasy XI, focusing on the gameplay, rather than the various problems Square has had to deal with since its launch.
- It's bubble-bursting time...Namco issued a statement saying that the rumor about Link appearing in Soul Calibur 2 is just a rumor, nothing more. That's Namco of America, of course, not Japan, so it's possible it's still true (although that's unlikely).
- Another rumor squashed at Computer and Video Games...it's been confirmed that the mysterious Super Mario's Universe movie that's making the rounds is an elaborate hoax. Since the game looked kinda lame, that's something of a relief.
- XenGamers has posted a preview of Black & White Next Generation, the PS2 and Xbox port of Black & White that focuses more on your creature than the original PC game.
- A warning from a Shack reader...despite some places that claimed otherwise, Nintendo's wireless Wavebird controller does not have force feedback.
- Team Xbox has some new shots from Panzer Dragoon Orta online tonight.
- Sega announced today Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution, a new arcade game in the fighting series. Despite the fact that this has shown up on a bunch of Xbox sites, no console ports have been announced as of yet.
- Surprise! The GBA's selling like crazy.
