Late Night Consoling
As preparation for the long trip to E3, I've beefed up my portable gaming library. I've already got Heroes III on my iBook, which by itself is enough to keep me busy for a six hour flight, but just to be on the safe side I picked up Doom for GBA, and I'm waiting patiently for Super Mario World to arrive as well. I've decided on those two GBA games for now, but there's no denying that there are some great games out, or on their way to the system. Tactics Ogre looks great (plus GameSpot says it is, and I actually trust their reviews), and the low-tech charm of Wolfenstein keeps calling me (it was a toss-up between Doom and Wolf...I'm sure I'll get the latter at some point). Coming soon from Sega are Phantasy Star and the Sega Smash Pack (which includes Sonic Spinball, Golden Axe and Ecco the Dolphin - an odd collection indeed) and there's a lot more on the way from others, including King of Fighters, Defender of the Crown and Street Fighter Alpha 3 (for those of us who know what the real king of Street Fighter games really is). Now if only that Afterburner add-on would hurry up and come out...
- While it won't formally be announced until tomorrow, Cube.IGN has leaked the news that Namco and Nintendo are working on a new Star Fox title for the Triforce arcade system (and eventually the GameCube). This suprising turn of events is the second such announcement, following Sega's announcement of a new F-Zero game.
- LucasArts has announced RTX Red Rock, a very strange looking third person action title for PS2 and GameCube. A preview of the game can be found at GameSpot, which features a good rundown of the game's features. I'm looking forward to checking this out at E3...it shows potential.
- Also at GameSpot are some new shots from Robotech: Battlecry, the awesome looking cel-shaded title from TDK for Xbox, PS2 and GameCube.
- A hands-on look at Dino Stalker, the upcoming GunCon 2 title from Capcom is up at PS2.IGN tonight. Another one can be found at GameSpot.
- More new screenshots from Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance have been released...head over to The Realm of Mortal Kombat for direct links and details on the new info in this month's PSM Magazine.
