Well the word is out, AMD is working on the 64-bit chip "SledgeHammer". What's interesting is that it will not run Intel-code in 64-bit applications but it's own native code. The AMD cloning days are over. Check this ZDNet Yahoo Atricle. Thing won't be out until 2001 though.
