Late Night Consoling
I mentioned yesterday that I picked up Blood Omen 2 over the weekend, but I neglected to mention my other purchase: Atari Anniversary Advance. I haven't tried out Blood Omen 2 yet, but I've been playing the heck out of AAA, and I must say, it's awesome. The cart contains Asteroids, Battlezone, Centipede, Tempest, Missile Command and Super Breakout, and they're all arcade-perfect. Any two of those would have been worth the purchase alone, but having all six on a single cart is like nostalgia heaven. This is definitely going to supplant Castlevania as my GBA game of choice for long plane rides (at least until that new Phantasy Star collection comes out, that is).
- So the big news tonight, as I'm sure many of you have already heard, is that Retro Studios and Nintendo are teaming up for a first person Kid Icarus. The new shooter will be available later this year, and will require a $199 add-on called "KIC." More information (including a picture of the add-on) can be found in Nintendo's press release, which also contains the first mention anywhere of the official titles for the next Pokemon and Legend of Zelda titles.
- In other Nintendo news, more details have emerged from Super Mario Sunshine.
- GameSpot is reporting that an announcement regarding the long-awaited return of Toe Jam and Earl (originally planned as a Dreamcast title) will be made in the near future.
- If you need more information about the GameCube Resident Evil remake, Cube.IGN has all kinds of gory details.
- Xbox.IGN has posted a new preview of Hunter: The Reckoning, complete with five new gameplay movies.
- At long last, here are some details from Sega GT 2002.
- Nintendo and Sony are both considering price drops for their respective systems. Don't expect a huge cut if and when they finally lower the price of the PS2. And I'd be downright shocked if Microsoft dropped the Xbox price within the next year.
- For those who really want one, The GIA has posted a full translated script from ICO (warning: may contain spoilers - although I'm not sure how exactly). Not too surprisingly, it all fits on a single sheet of paper.
