nVidia News

The Register is reporting two fairly exciting items for nVidia today. First is that they've added UMC to produce XBox chips. This is a big deal, as TSMC used to be the exclusive chip supplier for nVidia, who is now reportedly unhappy with TSMC's yields.

They're also reporting that nVidia has joined the S&P 500, which had a vacant slot from the departure of Enron. This is huge news for the company and great news for anyone there (especially my former 3dfx co-workers :-) ). nVidia's stock is fairly unique as it has been largely unaffected by the recent downtown in the economy. It's been my opinion that recessions actually help console sales, and their inclusion into the S&P 500 certainly helps to back that theory up.
