Chaser Interview

Jolt.co.uk has conducted an interview with David Durcak and Marian Suran of Cauldron. These guys are currently working on the FPS Chaser, which uses the CloakNT engine. There are questions about how the game is shaping up, the Total Recall-like story, weapons, use of vehicles, if a map editor will be included or not, the CloakNT engine and all its features and more.

The featureset of the engine is very similar to what John Carmack has built for Doom3. You could be naughty and steal his thunder by releasing a test version of Chaser before Id releases a playable build of Doom :) Are you likely to release a public test version before going gold?

As I mentioned above we finally decided not to use dynamic per-pixel lighting so technical part of Chaser will not be a competitor to Doom 3 engine. Of course we can make a multiplayer level with dynamic lighting, which is available in the engine; some kind of 'darkmatch' with flashlights and release it as a test but we have no plans for anything like this at the moment. As for releasing a public test version or demo of Chaser, all will depend on our publisher.

Additionally, the Cauldron website has a new movie of the game.
