I dont keep up with the demoscene much these days, but I read on the dot that The Assembly 2001 ended a few days ago. The Assembly is one of the largest demo-parties organized every year. Various competitions are held - demos, 4k demos, raytracing, musicmaking, and more of that stuff. Check out the website, the competition results page and the ftp site with all entries.
