1.4Ghz Athlon MP Soon
For the fastest in Athlon SMP computing you have to wait for a little bit, as The Register is reporting that a 1.4Ghz version of the MP Athlon should be available by August for around $300. Currently only a 1.0Ghz and a 1.2Ghz version are available.

They're hitting the limit of current technology. But new tech should be out sooner or later.

But they are hitting the limits of common sense. :o) All we need is some games (like T2) that run bad even on high end machines to increase the demands for even more powerfull systems. Too bad that even high end graphical OS like Windows don't need the power of todays computers to run smooth.

Oh yes they are. Going from 800 to 900 Mhz is a lot bigger boost than going from 1,33 to 1,4 Ghz (not the best explaination but it still shows that at least the Thunderbird is hitting its max speed)

if youre looking at it as exponential growth then yeah, growth has probably slowed...but if you look at it linearly then growth is probably at its highest rate...because wasnt it less than a year ago that the 1 ghz came out?...if so, that means a growth of 400 mhz in one year, not bad...
