Intel P4 1.7GHz Unveiled

Intel has let loose the P4 1.7GHz chips finally and we're perhaps approaching speeds that may make the chip worthy of a purchase for more than just Quake3 benchmarks. You can check out articles at Tech-Report , AnandTech , XBit , GamersDepot , TargetPC , GotApex , and TomsHardware. Intel is getting closer and we see quite a few quotes like this:

Just like a lot of our tests above, the Athlons come out ahead, but the 1.7GHz P4 is very closely matched to the 1.2GHz Athlon. Funny how that works.

Oh yeah, and HardOCP has got a P4 running stable over 2GHz. Check out this bench.
