It’s a big day for Splatoon 3 players as the latest update, Version 2.1.0, arrives alongside patch notes for the game. It’s a doozy too. Splatoon 3 Version 2.1.0 arrives today on Nintendo Switch and brings a laundry list of weapon balances, bug fixes, and further adjustments to the game. Special weapons were particularly affected, but you’ll want to see everything that changed, especially if your favorite ink-flingers were affected.

Nintendo launched Splatoon Version 2.1.0 and its accompanying patch notes on its Nintendo Support site on January 17, 2023. One of the biggest changes in this patch was the adjustment of special weapons and their gauges. Nintendo very specifically said it would like to “increase the manifestation of special weapons” throughout matches. Essentially the game’s supers, these weapons may come more into play than ever following the 2.1.0 update. Check out the full patch notes below to see specific changes:

Weapons

Sub Weapons

Special Weapons

Gear Abilities

Bug fixes

Fixes to Player Controls

Changes to Multiplayer

Changes to Salmon Run

Changes to Story Mode

Other Changes

That covers the entirety of the patch notes for Splatoon 3 Version 2.1.0, but stay tuned because there’s plenty more Splatoon 3 coverage on the way. In the meantime, be sure to catch up on who won the latest Splatfest, featuring Spicy vs. Sweet vs. Sour!
