Twitter has been constantly growing since it was founded in 2006. Now one of the largest social media platforms, Twitter connects millions around the world and has become a major pillar of online communication. With all that in mind, many are likely curious about who’s at the head of the company making the major decisions. Let’s see who the CEO of Twitter is.
Elon Musk is the CEO of Twitter. Musk took over as CEO in October 2022 following a back-and-forth affair in which the billionaire proposed to purchase the social media company for $44 billion, tried to back out, and then ultimately went through with the acquisition. After becoming CEO, former CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and legal affairs and policy chief Vijaya Gadde were all dismissed from the company.
It didn't take long for Elon Musk to leave his mark on Twitter after assuming ownership of the company. The CEO introduced a revamp to Twitter Blue that locked account verification behind a paywall. He also made clear his intentions to assemble a moderation council, and potentially resurrect Vine, Twitter's short-form video platform.
Prior to the Elon Musk era, Parag Agrawal served as Twitter's CEO for just under a year, taking over in November 2021. He was hand-picked by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey to be his successor after Dorsey stepped down from the position. Dorsey served as the company’s CEO from 2006-2021. Parag Agrawal previously spent a decade at Twitter, serving as the company’s CTO.
Now that you know Elon Musk is the CEO of Twitter (TWTR), you know exactly who to look at for the company’s major decisions. He of course has a Twitter account himself, where he's infamous for openly discussing his ideas and upcoming plans for his companies, including Twitter.
