Thursday's Summer Game Fest 2022 presentation kicked off with new information about Street Fighter 6. In fact, it's time to start filling out the roster. To continue the theme of grizzled veterans, Guile has returned, fresh off going home and being a family man.
(That's not a joke, either, as evidenced by the Capcom website.)
Guile's moves should be familiar to anyone with even a passing knowledge of the Street Fighter series. His Sonic Boom and Flash Kick are both back and work the same way they have in the past. The Sonic Blade, which was a big hit in Street Fighter 5, is also returning as a special move and is still capable of working as a two-hit projectile.
Guile brings along a trio of Super Arts. His Sonic Hurricane (1 stock) makes its return from Street Fighter Alpha 3, capable of cutting straight ahead, but also coming with a Heavy Punch version that can be used as an anti-air maneuver. The Solid Puncher (2 stocks) is the returning V-Trigger I from Street Fighter 5, allowing Guile to fire off multiple Sonic Booms one after the other. Lastly, Guile debuts a new move called the Crossfire Somersault (3 stocks), which launches opponents with an aerial slash and bashes them with a powerful Flash Kick.
It's been a busy week for Capcom's latest fighter, dating back to last Thursday's PlayStation State of Play. This may not be the end of the SF6 reveals, since Capcom is scheduled to have its own direct presentation this coming Monday. Street Fighter 6 is coming in 2023 to PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series X|S. For more news from Summer Game Fest, be sure to take a look around here at Shacknews.
