The Apple iPad continues to be a good in-between, sitting in the space above smart phones but below laptops. With the California Streaming Event, Apple announced the latest iteration of the iPad lineup. This particular device improves upon the previous model by utilizing a new and more powerful A13 Bionic Chip and pre-orders have opened for various models.
Apple announced the new iPad model during the Apple California Streaming Special Event on September 14, 2021. The major upgrade on this particular iPad is the introduction of the A13 Bionic Chip. It’s the next step up from last year’s introduced A12 Bionic Chip in the previous iPad models, featuring a supposed 20 percent increase in processing power and graphics processing. The new iPad will retail for $329 USD at standard MSRP for a 64GB model, but there will also be an educational version available for $299. There’s also a model with 256GB of storage that will start at $479. The new iPad will come in Space Gray and Silver colors at launch and Cellular models will also be detailed soon.
Apple set a launch date on the upcoming new iPad model as well. Pre-orders have opened on the Apple website and initial devices will available on September 24, 2021.
It will remain to be seen just how much impact the A13 Bionic Chip has on the iPad since Apple just launched the A12 Bionic Chip last year, which was supposed to be a major new generation in internal technology for Apple devices. However, there are other neat features that will be packed into the new device. The new iPad features Apple’s new ultra-wide Center Stage technology for cutting edge photos and video, and compatibility with the Apple Pencil to give you extra versatility in your iPad functionality and use.
With a September date set for the new iPad and its A13 chip, be sure to check out the Apple website for further details ahead of launch later this month. Meanwhile, check out our other coverage from the latest Apple Special Event, including the new iPhone and Apple Watch.
