Focus Home Interactive is one of the largest publishers in gaming, and it’s now adding a hot developer to its stable. Focus Home Interactive has announced its acquisition of Streets of Rage 4 developer Dotemu.
Focus Home Interactive announced its acquisition of Dotemu in an official press release on August 5, 2021. Dotemu has officially agreed to sell 77.5% of its share capital to Focus Home Interactive, one of the biggest publishers in the industry. In the release, Focus Home cites Dotemu’s work on its retro titles as a driving force behind the acquisition.
“Joining Focus Home Interactive was an obvious choice for Dotemu,” said Cyrille Imbert, CEO of Dotemu. We share the same passion for video games, the same desire to improve, as well as the same values of respect and benevolence towards our partners and teams” he continued. Imbert goes on to say that the acquisition will allow Dotemu to “benefit from the incontestable expertise of Focus Home Interactive’s teams for the production of AA titles.”
Dotemu received much acclaim for its work on Streets of Rage 4, which we quite enjoyed ourselves here at Shacknews. The developer’s next title is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, another retro-style brawler. Interestingly enough, Dotemu states that the new partnership will help “launch the production of future remakes or sequels on licenses of first-generation 3D consoles.
The acquisition is certainly a win for Focus Home Interactive, as Dotemu has proved to be one of the most talented studios out there. It’s yet to be seen how the deal will impact the projects currently in development at Dotemu. Stick with Shacknews for future updates on what’s happening at Focus Home Interactive and Dotemu.
