Rocket League now features voice chat for players to use. Not only does this allow players to better coordinate, but it lets players chat and communicate in a game that previously only featured text chat. However, some players may want to just opt out of this feature entirely. Let's look at how you can disable voice chat in Rocket League.
To turn off voice chat in Rocket League, open the settings and click on the Audio tab. un-check the box that says "Enable Voice Chat." This screen is also where you can change your audio input/output device, as well as enable Push to Talk.
You can also change your voice chat from team to party. While team chat allows you to talk to anybody that gets placed on your team, party chat will keep you in a voice channel only with the players you have invited or joined. If you really want to cut communication with other players entirely, this tab can also be used to disable text chat in Rocket League, which usually allows you to talk to not only your team, but the opponent as well.
If you disable voice chat entirely, you won’t be able to hear any audio communication from your teammates, and vice versa. If you’re playing with friends, maybe chat with them in a Discord call or Xbox/PlayStation party. Disabling this feature can also help you dodge any random unpleasant players that you may come across in matchmaking.
