We couldn't get out of the Future Games Show at E3 2021 without one last new game reveal. Immortality by Sam Barlow, creator of Her Story, was announced today with a teaser trailer and a release window for 2022 for PC. The teaser featured below carries a lot of gravitas with the announcement of writers Allan Scott, Amelia Gray, and Barry Gifford all contributing to the project.

The Future Games Show wrapped up day 3 of E3 2021 and the showcase capped off things with one last world premiere. Immortality, a curious new game from Sam Barlow was shown with an announcement trailer to stay fresh in viewers' minds until they are beleaguered once more as a new deluge of E3 reveals washes upon them. Sam Barlow is an interactive fiction veteran with work on the British developed Silent Hill games in between releasing the award winning Aisle, Her Story, and Telling Lies independently.

The Immortality trailer opens with a short tale of Marissa Marcel, a film star with three movies to her credit but none of which ever saw a release. We see the three movie posters that encompass her resume, Ambrosio, Minsky, and Two of Everything. We learn that Marcel disappeared and see the posters now set ablaze. With large cult-followings and numerous accolades, Barlow's games have become notable works and Immortality looks to bring even more prestige to the developer with a trio of notable writers.

Allan Scott has recently won a WGA award for his role as a producer on the recent Netflix hit series The Queen's Gambit. Working with Sam Barlow on 2019's Telling Lies, Amelia Gray received a nomination for her work from the Writers' Guild of Great Britain. Barry Gifford is known for writing the classic thriller, Lost Highway, with David Lynch which garnered acclaim from horror film fan mag Fangoria. With a star-studded lineup contributing towards a cinema focused interactive fiction, Immortality might just live on as a critical success.
