There’s an absolute beauty in the style of games that moved between the 2D and 3D space in that era of video games. Among them were a lot of games that took the two forms and blended them together into some fantastic games. SacriFire is a game from Pixelated Milk that looks as though it’s looking to capture that style. We got a look at the game’s characters, environments, story, and combat, as well as the reveal of an upcoming Kickstarter during E3.

Pixelated Milk’s SacriFire got a spotlight during PC Games Show at E3 2021 on June 13, 2021. Not only did we get a pretty extensive look at the game’s gameplay, but Pixelated Milk teased SacriFire’s now-launched Kickstarter during the trailer. SacriFire is a journey in which players will engage with the underground city of Antioch and the spirit paradise realm of Erebus. It is said to feature a battle system that will feature a mix of both real-time and turn-based JRPG mechanics in which you will utilize different weapons, target enemy parts, and create strings of combos. You can see it all in action just below.

SacriFire looks extremely promising in this early look. The mix of 3D environments and 2D sprites looks quite well-crafted and highly reminiscent of 1990s JRPGs on the original PlayStation 1 and Sega Saturn. Pixelated Milk also sounds like it intends to try its own tricks to set SacriFire apart from the usual expectations of the genre while still remaining faithful to the style for the most part.

With the Kickstarter only having just launched, it will likely be some time before we get anywhere near a release date for SacriFire. Nonetheless, keep an eye here for the latest updates on the game and follow our further E3 2021 coverage throughout the weekend.
