During E3 2021, Turtle Rock Studios gavce us another look at the upcoming co-op zombie-survival game Back 4 Blood. This time, the developers showcased some of the PvP gameplay in Back 4 Blood. We’ve already seen a bunch of the PvE gameplay, but now we’ve got our first glance at how it will be when players face off against each other.
The Back 4 Blood PvP showcase took place during E3 2021, and showed us another side of the upcoming survival game from the Left 4 Dead creators. In Back 4 Blood, players can also take control of the Ridden, commanding an army of the undead against the survivors. PvP games are formatted in teams of four, with matches being determined by a best of three rounds.
While the Cleaners will be aiming to gather resources and survive for as long as possible, the Ridden will be tasked with killing all of the Cleaners as fast as they can. After the Cleaners are defeated, sides are swapped and the other team will have to beat their time in order to score points.
Over the course of a PvP match, the play zone will shrink, forcing the Cleaners into a tighter area. This will combat camping and keep players moving and on their toes. Players on the undead side can select between different Ridden, each having their own unique abilities that can counter the Cleaners.
Back 4 Blood is set to launch on October 12, and has an open beta coming on August 5. For some of the news out of E3 2021 that you may have missed, you can count on Shacknews to keep you caught up.
