Call of Duty veteran devs reveal new Deviation Games studio during Summer Game Fest 2021

Jason Blundell and Dave Anthony have put in work on some of the best that the Call of Duty franchise had to offer as studio leads, but it’s been awhile since they stepped away from Treyarch. That said, they haven’t rested on their laurels. Blundell and Anthony officially announced that they have formed Deviation Games and further announced that the studio has partnered with PlayStation for an upcoming game.

Deviation Games and its partnership with PlayStation were revealed during the Summer Game Fest 2021 showcase on June 10, 2021. Having both previously worked on the likes of titles as recent as Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Dave Anthony and Jason Blundell formed Deviation Games as a way to pursue gaming projects far outside their norms and the norms of players.

“When my partner Jason Blundell and I first met decades ago, we often dreamt about having our own studio,” Anthony wrote in a PlayStation blog post. “Making games our way with our own team of like-minded developers and building a community where lasting friendships are created. That dream has become a reality today.”

With the studio announced, Anthony and Blundell further announced that Deviation Games has already partnered up with Sony Interactive Entertainment for an exclusive on PlayStation consoles. They explained that their planned project is still very early in development, so they didn’t have anything to show during the Summer Game Fest 2021 presentation. However, they also mentioned that we should expect to see some reveals out of Deviation Games in the near future when the group is ready to put their project in front of the world.

With around 100 employees already gathered in Deviation Games, it would seem that Dave Anthony and Jason Blundell are more than prepared to pursue the venture they were seeking in game development. When they do finally reveal their project, expect to hear about it here at Shacknews.
