It has felt like the greatest travesty for a long time that Scott Pilgrim vs. The World has been unplayable in any and all forms after being delisted from PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in 2014. Now, it would seem that things are finally coming together for the game to make its triumphant return. Ubisoft has announced Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: Complete Edition, which will bring the original game, its DLC, and more features to modern consoles this coming holiday season.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: Complete Edition was announced during the Ubisoft Forward presentation on September 10, 2020. A grand collaboration between Ubisoft Montreal and creator Bryan Lee O’Malley, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is an amazing encapsulation of the comics and movie in one fantastic co-op beat’em-up experience for up to four players. The Complete Edition will bring all of the content that ever came out for the game together in one lovely package for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. There’s no word on PS5 or Xbox Series X just yet, but check out the trailer just below to see more.
Players and fans of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World have been asking for the return of the game for years, and though there were possibilities and rumors before, it was the recent admission by O’Malley that recently got our hopes up. Leading up to the Ubisoft Forward presentation, O’Malley teased that Ubisoft had recently contacted him. Given Ubisoft Montreal’s work on the game, it could only mean one thing if it was true, but the film’s director, Edgar Wright, was also an advocate for the game’s return. Wright himself was also teasing possibilities leading up to the presentation today.
With the stars finally aligned, it seems that we’re leaving Ubisoft Forward with something other than disappointment today. Stay tuned to Shacknews for more details on the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: Complete Edition, including a more concrete launch date near the coming holidays.
