LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will pack all nine episodic films into one grand adventure in 2021. During Gamescom Opening Night Live, a brand new trailer was revealed for the upcoming LEGO title. Showcasing some of the franchise’s most iconic moments, the new trailer for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is big on action and laughs.
Originally revealed at E3 2019, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was given a tentative release window of 2020. A recent posting to LEGO’s official website confirmed that the game had been pushed back to 2021. The game’s latest trailer manages to balance the sense of grandeur that Star Wars radiates, while still packing that LEGO sense of humor.
The new trailer encompasses all three trilogies of the Skywalker Saga. We see Luke as a farm boy on Tatooine, confronting Darth Vader in Cloud City, and training with Yoda. For the prequels, we see young Anakin pod racing, as well as the epic battle on Geonosis from Attack of the Clones. We even see a glimpse of the emotional duel between Obi-Wan and Anakin on Mustafar.
The trailer also leans heavily into the latest batch of Disney-era Star Wars films. We see General Leia Organa swapping out her old twin-buns hairstyle for something more mature, as well as an annoyed Master Luke Skywalker confronting two porgs wearing his cloak on Anch-To. There’s also sequences from the final film in the saga, The Rise of Skywalker, such as the duel between Rey and Kylo Ren on Kef Bir.
The first look at gameplay in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga also comes in this new trailer. We see a wide variety of ways to relive the epic franchise. From saber duels against General Grievous to outer space dogfights in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon, LEGO Star Wars looks to be stuffed with content.
The game remains with a rough release window of 2021, so hopefully we get that narrowed down soon. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was just one of many games shown off during Gamescom Opening Night Live.
