Hood Outlaws & Legends was announced as a brand new PlayStation 5 title headed to the system early in 2021.
Hood: Outlaws and Legends is a new multiplayer PvPvE game that takes two 4-player teams and then directs them against each other to pull off heists at a variety of locations teeming with AI guards. The PlayStation Blog post indicates that there will be several different types of game mechanics and features that may be used to help you either assist or hinder rival players.
Goals will include stealing treasure chests and escaping with them, all while working with your teammates. You can only carry the ammo you can bring with you as well as what you can salvage or recover from the enemies you end up killing, but be beware: you don't want to invoke the ire of the guards around you.
But what is this "Hood" thing about anyway? If you were thinking it might have something to do with Robin Hood, you're right on the money. Focus Home Interactive isn't saying much, but they've indicated that the game follows their "own version" of Dark Ages Britain, following a time where the authority known as The State is looking to make order out of chaos – except they're going about it in the worst way possible.
This version of Robin Hood finds the hero banding up with other outlaws with a bow in tow, and the story will take inspiration from "popular folklore" with elements of "grounded fantasy" sprinkled in for good measure.
There should be more information coming out soon about Hood: Outlaws and Legends in the near future, but right now we'll just want to keep an eye out for any additional information on the horizon. Be sure to stay tuned to Shacknews for updates. Currently, the game is set for a 2021 release.
