Decline of Quake3 Teamplay?

ShackES is carrying an interesting thread about the decline of the Quake3 teamplay scene. As mentioned by Wiseguy, a member of one of the QIL finalists teams. There arent any big tournaments currently going and he states that there appears to be a general lack of enthusiasm

  more likely it's that team-oriented people play other games/mods more condusive to teamplay like CS,TF,TFC,Q3F,Tribes,UTCTF, etc. Team DM does not appeal nearly as much to me as CTF or TF.

    Its Q3's team DM that is the problem.
    
    I've never been much into team DM, but original Quake TDM was the shit.
