The fan favorite dungeon-crawling franchise Torchlight saw some action on PC Gaming Show 2020. Runic’s Max Schaefer showed off a new trailer and dropped some new details, including the fact that Torchlight 3 is now available to play in Steam Early Access.
Torchlight 3 launched in Steam Early Access on June 13, 2020 as part of the PC Gaming Show 2020. The launch build of Torchlight 3 in Early Access will run you $29.99, features four classes, up to four player multiplayer, two acts, and plenty of items, weapons, enemies, and bosses. One of the more interesting features of Torchlight 3 is a new Fort mechanic. As you explore the world, you can come across forts established by other players. These forts can be used to rest and recover, enchant your items, and more. You can raise, upgrade, and customize your own fort to make it stand out among the multiplayer world. The latest trailer for the game can be seen just below.
Torchlight 3 began as Torchlight Frontiers under Runic Games, but the studio split in different directions with acquirement by Perfect World Entertainment. With Runic original Max Schaefer forming Echtra Games, he took up the reins of the game’s development, formally renaming it to Torchlight 3. We learned that Torchlight 3 would be coming sometime in this Summer 2020, but we knew little out of how Echtra was going to change things up.
With a fresh look at character classes and the interesting new class system, Torchlight 3 is looking like a pretty good continuation of the beloved dungeon crawling franchise. And with the option to play with up to four other players, it seems like it will be a solid co-op adventure even in Early Access. Stay tuned for further details on development and updates coming to the game here at Shacknews.
