PS5 images and design revealed during PlayStation 5 livestream

Sony held their “Future of Gaming” press conference today. The conference ran for over an hour and spilled tons of information on the upcoming PS5. One of the looming questions over the event was whether or not we’d finally get to see the PlayStation 5 console itself, and what it would look like. Sony saved this reveal for last, showcasing quite a futuristic looking console design.

In the trailer, we get to see the PS5 in all its glory. The console stands up vertically, with a wavy exterior design. It’s currently unclear if users will be able to lay their console down horizontally, or if it’s required to stay vertical. In the center, we see those signature blue lights illuminating the console. Interesting to note, The PS5 is primarily white. This is a departure from past releases, as all PlayStation consoles have launched in black, receiving white alternates later on.

A visual of the console itself was high up on many wish lists going into the PS5 reveal stream. Sony met those requests in giving the world its first glimpse at their next generation system. The trailer shows a PS5 with a disk drive, as well as a version without it. We still don’t have a price tag, but it stands to reason that the diskless PS5 may run you for a little less. If you weren’t able to catch the stream, we’ve compiled all of the announcements and trailers from Sony’s “The Future of Gaming” livestream.
