Myth3 Announced

The Gathering of Developers sent out a press release this morning announcing Myth3: The Wolf Age, a prequel to the previous two Myth games made by Bungie. This third game will be created by newly-formed game developer Mumbo Jumbo. It turns out this company was started by Mark Dochtermann and Ron Dimant who previously worked at Ritual Entertainment. Mark was a co-owner and lead programmer, while Ron served as CEO. Joining them are former Ritual level designer Patrick Hook, Fallout lead designer Scott Campbell, programmer Andrew Meggs and former Apple partnership manager Michael Donges.

The game will set new standards for 3D RTS games through the use of true 3D characters, procedural foliage, deformable terrain, innovative network games, a powerful roster of units and an engrossing story.

"The Myth franchise is known for innovative content and gameplay. Myth III will continue this tradition and also support the latest 3D technologies available for Windows, Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X," said Mumbo Jumbo President Mark Dochtermann.

The game is due to be released on the Mac and PC in November already. The departure of Mark Dochtermann means Ritual Entertainment has lost another key engineer, with Jim Dose (id Software) and Scott Alden (3D Realms) leaving before him. Ritual was not yet ready to answer any questions regarding the future of the company.
