Marty’s Retribution returns to Destiny 2 once more after a 15 season absence. It brings with it a perk refresh, and while some of the originals remain, there are a couple of new additions to spice up your build. Here are our picks for a couple of Martyr’s Retribution god rolls.
For a PvE Martyr’s Retribution god roll, we’re going to lean into the Solar 3.0 update more. To that end, Incandescent is a big winner here.
Martyr's Retribution god roll - PvE | |
---|---|
Barrel | Quick Launch (Velocity +10, Handling +15) |
Magazine | High-Velocity Rounds (Velocity +10, Reload Speed +10) |
Perk 1 | Auto-Loading Holster (The holstered weapon is automatically reloaded after a short period of time) |
Perk 2 | Incandescent (Defeating a target spreads scorch to those nearby. More powerful combatants and opposing Guardians cause scorch in a larger radius.) |
Origin Trait | Cast No Shadows (Dealing melee damage increases this weapon’s handling and loads a small amount of ammo from reserves) |
Masterwork | Blast Radius |
Mod | Quick Access Sling |
Start off your god roll with the classic choices of Quick Launch and High-Velocity Rounds. This cuts down on the travel time of the projectile and ensures you get the blast sweeping along the ground as soon as possible. Add on a Blast Radius mod for more bang for your buck.
The perk selection is where Martyr’s Retribution really shines. You could pick just about any combination and walk away with something that works wonderfully in PvE, and truthfully, you might have a different idea of how you want to use this gun. So with that said, I’d be looking for Auto-Loading Holster and Incandescent.
This setup lets you fire a shot, get a bunch of kills with the explosion, and then let it reload itself while you use your other weapon. It’s effectively a Solar Forbearance. You might also enjoy Heal Clip and Kill Clip together, Demolitionist and Adrenaline Junkie, or any of the other perks.
Wave Frames can be a tricky beast to counter-play in PvP. This Martyr’s Retribution god roll looks to snuggle right in and be a thorn in your foe’s side.
Martyr's Retribution god roll - PvP | |
---|---|
Barrel | Linear Compensator (Stability +5, Velocity +5, Blast Radius +5) |
Magazine | High-Velocity Rounds (Velocity +10, Reload Speed +10) |
Perk 1 | Demolitionist (Kills with this weapon generate grenade energy. Activating your grenade ability reloads this weapon from reserves) |
Perk 2 | Vorpal Weapon (Increased damage against bosses, vehicles, and Guardians with their Super active) |
Origin Trait | Cast No Shadows (Dealing melee damage increases this weapon’s handling and loads a small amount of ammo from reserves) |
Masterwork | Velocity |
Mod | Radar Booster |
While velocity remains a priority, Linear Compensator gives you a nice even split across a few stats, but we’re specifically interested in velocity and blast radius. This combo will help you tag any foes that think they’re out of range. Throw on a Velocity or Blast Radius Masterwork depending on what you feel you need.
For the two perks, Demolitionist will have your grenade regenerating faster if you keep getting kills. Meanwhile, Vorpal Weapon is purely to stop anyone in their Supers. There’s nothing more demoralizing than being knocked out of your Super, so try and deal that psychological damage to your opponent and enjoy the ride to victory.
Martyr’s Retribution returns and this god roll is sure to make some waves in PvE and PvP content. You’ll find more god roll suggestions for Episode: Echoes weapons over on our Destiny 2 Strategy Guide.
