PUBG Update 5.2 patch notes updates Vikendi map, adds Spike Traps

Published , by TJ Denzer

Vehicles aren’t the most overpowered thing in PUBG, but there’s little to allow a player or squad to set up a proper ambush without an incredibly good shot at drivers. With this in mind, the latest PUBG update 5.2 and patch notes should delight those looking to put a stop to roadtrips everywhere in PUBG. Moreover, Vikendi just got a major overhaul which should allow for better sniping strategies and lanes of long-range engagement. Check out the major changes in PUBG Update 5.2!

New PUBG gear: Spike Traps

The new Spike Traps in PUBG mean drivers will need to be far more wary of ambushes from players along the roads to a Chicken Dinner.

The Spike Trap is an all new gadget in PUBG. Deployable on any open terrain, this item is made specifically to combat errant vehicular travel. Any vehicle that drives over a deployed Spike Trap will have its tires blown. It doesn’t do anything to the vehicle’s overall health, but will most certainly put a damper on their mobility. Once a Spike Trap has been laid, it can’t be retrieved and redeployed, and once a single vehicle is damaged by it, it will disappear. That said, Spike Traps the same spawn rate as other throwables in the game, which should make it fairly easy to find.

PUBG 5.2 Vikendi Overhaul

Vikendi's overhaul in PUBG Update 5.2 brings a slew of changes made to boost strategies, cover, loot gathering, and long-distance shootouts.

After a big update to Miramar in PUBG 5.1, Vikendi came up next on the ledger. Vikendi’s update was approached with snipers in mind. The PUBG team shared enthusiasm for a long-range duel and wanted to cater to the artisans of the scope. With that in mind, Vikendi has seen some terrain redesign to allow these long-distance engagements to happen. In turn, for the folks that are not going out of their way to get a sniper duel going, more vehicles and roads have been added to help players close the gaps. Just mind the above Spike Traps on the open roads while you travel. The towns, regular terrain, and notably Mount Kreznic have also been adjusted to allow for better traversal, better cover, and more overall appealing variance in your travels.
