The Lectern of Enchantment is a new tool introduced with Destiny 2: Shadowkeep. This table on the Moon is Eris Morn’s creation that allows players to craft their own weapons. In order to create said weapons, players will need to find and complete Essence quests, but before that, you will need to know how to unlock the Lectern of Enchantment and where to find it.
Introduced part way through the Shadowkeep storyline in Destiny 2, the Lectern of Enchantment is a brand new way for players to chase the perfect rolls on guns they want. Unlike the Menagerie and the Forges, there’s no need to play through a lengthy activity to create a gun.
The Lectern of Enchantment’s location is extremely easy to find. This new tool is located on the Moon, at the Sanctuary fast travel point beside Eris Morn. Keep in mind you must first unlock the Lectern of Enchantment before you can start crafting weapons.
The Lectern of Enchantment is unlocked shortly after the Shadowkeep campaign mission, Back from the Dark. You will receive the next quest step which is called Lectern of Enchantment. Head back to Sanctuary where you should be able to use the Cryptoglyph and the Essence of Anguish. From this point on, you can begin crafting weapons and armor.
Crafting a weapon first requires unlocking an Essence quest (more on those below) or purchasing one from the Lectern of Enchantment. After you have found an Essence quest, it can be purchased from the Lectern using Phantasmal Cores.
Purchase the Essence that corresponds with the weapon you want to create. Thankfully, you need only do the killing portion of the quest as the Lectern remembers what weapon parts you’ve found. As an example, if you’ve already finished the Essence of Rage, you won’t need to go and find the Fangs of Shun’Gath a second time.
Complete the Essence and return to the Lectern of Enchantment to receive your weapon.
Running out of Phantasmal Cores means you won’t be able to purchase any more Essence quests. Thankfully, there are a few ways you can get more Phantasmal Cores:
There are only nine jade rabbits to find, they’re a single-use encounter, and they won’t always give you a core. However, find them all for some easy rewards.
The other method, trading in Phantasmal Fragments, is the best way to get more Phantasmal Cores. The Lectern of Enchantment gives you a 1:20 ratio of Cores to Fragments. You will need 20 Phantasmal Fragments for 1 Phantasmal Core.
There are a few ways you can get Phantasmal Fragments:
Any Nightmare you kill on the Moon has a chance to drop Phantasmal Fragments. The best place to find these is at Sorrow’s Harbor. Use the fast travel point and go around killing the Nightmare Ogres. The second way is to trade 25 Helium Coils for a Phantasmal Fragment. Use either method to get enough to purchase a Core.
Essence quests are the only way you can create Eris Morn’s new set of armor and weapons. As you play through the Shadowkeep campaign, you will unlock a full set of Dreambane armor through four specific Essence quests. After the campaign, you will need to find the remaining Essence quests associated with the weapons.
These Essence quests can be found randomly on the Moon. Each time you complete an activity, there’s a chance you will receive one. For example, Public Events and high-priority targets have a good chance of dropping Essence quests.
There are over a dozen Essence quests in in Destiny 2. Each quest rewards either a piece of the Dreambane armor or on of Eris’ new weapons. Below is a list of each Essence quest and a link to where to find the weapon part:
