Pokemon GO Halloween 2019 event debuts Darkrai and Yamask

The Halloween season is here and that means it's time for all good boys and girls to go trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. It also means it's time for attentive parents to jump on their phones and try to catch some Pokemon as they stroll around their local areas. The Pokemon Company and Niantic are looking to make things a little more fun for those parents by launching this year's Pokemon GO Halloween event.

As is usually the case around October, more Ghost-type Pokemon will find their way out into the world. The usual suspects will be out, but this year, Yamask (Pokemon #562) will join the party for the first time. Some of them might even be Shiny. But Pokemon GO is looking to offer a little bit more than that this year. This is the first year that Team GO Rocket will be lurking around PokéStops. These Team GO Rocket Grunts will be holding new Pokemon, including Weedle, Kakuna, Beedrill, Electabuzz, Magmar, Lapras (!), Mareep, Seedot, Nuzleaf, Sableye, Trapinch, Cacnea, Shuppet, and Duskull.

Normally, for events such as this one, there's a Pikachu in some sort of cute hat or adorable costume. And yes, that will be the case here, as Pikachu can be found in the wild wearing a Mimikyu costume. But the original three starter Pokemon can also be found wearing different costumes this year. Bulbasaur will be dressed as a Shedinja, Charmander will be dressed as Cubone, and Squirtle will be dressed as Yamask. The costumed starters can be found in raids, so be sure to check around your local gyms. You'll either find them or you'll find the debuting Darkrai. This will be the first time the mythical Generation IV Pokemon can be found in Pokemon GO and it can be spotted in five-star raids.

And because it's Halloween, Pokemon GO players can earn double candy across the board. The Pokemon GO Halloween 2019 event is set to begin this Thursday at 1PM PT and run until Friday, November 1 at 1PM PT. For more details, visit the Pokemon GO website.
