How to get Deathbringer Exotic Rocket Launcher in Destiny 2

Published , by Sam Chandler

Unlocking the Deathbringer Exotic Rocket Launcher in Destiny 2 is going to be a high priority. This powerful weapon is able to dish out a lot of damage with its unique firing pattern. Getting your hands on Deathbringer is going to be a bit challenging, as it requires completing a lengthy quest line that starts with the Memory of Sai Mota.

How to get Deathbringer

The first step in unlocking Deathbringer is to finish the Shadowkeep campaign. Once the story is completed, you will need to speak with Eris Morn to receive the quest, Memory of Sai Mota. Completing this quest grants you access to the Symphony of Death quest. Once all of this is completed, the Deathbringer Exotic Rocket Launcher will be yours.

Memory of Sai Mota

System core vault accessed: In order to complete this step, you must purchase Eris Morn’s weekly bounty, Lunar Spelunker. This bounty has you completing three of the Moon’s Lost Sectors. Upon completion, you will be able to use a Firewall Data Fragment to open a special door hidden in the R1 Revelations Lost Sector

Lunar Spelunker

Loot chests in 3 of the Moon’s Lost Sectors:

K1 Revelations

After you complete the bounty and get the Firewall Data Fragment, go to the K1 Revelations Lost Sector in Sorrow’s Harbor. Fight through the Lost Sector to the end and then climb into the little tunnel near the loot cache. Interact with the terminal to receive the next step, Sai Mota’s Broken Necklace. You can also give the Jade Rabbit one of your small rice cakes while you’re here.

Sai Mota’s Broken Necklace

Necklace Scraps collected: Use one of the Nightmare Hunts for easy Nightmare kills, or try one of the Lost Sectors on the Moon. The more powerful the Nightmare, the more scraps you’ll collect. Ensure you are causing damage with your Arc abilities and not your weapons. Damage enemies until they are weak and finish them off with abilities for the best results.

Sai Mota’s Repaired Necklace

After repairing Sai Mota's necklace and speaking with Eris, open the nearby chest to receive the first step in the Symphony of Death quest.

Go to the Sanctuary fast travel point and use the Hive portal to track down Eris. She’s standing on the lookout overlooking the Pyramid. Speak with her to continue the quest. You can also select to “Hear More” if you would like more lore. Collect your reward from the chest right near Eris to move the quest on to the next step.

Symphony of Death

Your reward from the chest is the quest, Symphony of Death. This is the Exotic quest that leads to you unlocking the Deathbringer. The first step is Faculties of the Skull.

Faculties of the Skull

To complete this step, you will need to make your way to the Circle of Bones in the Hellmouth. This is the center area of the Hellmouth that can be accessed by any of the entrances into the labyrinthine caverns beneath the Moon. Open your map and find the blue banner on the Moon. Track it to easily find your way to the Hellmouth and the Circle of Bones.

From here, you will need to fight into the Summoning Pits and stop the Hive’s Wicked Communion. Once the Hive are destroyed, you will receive the next step.

Tainted Lullaby

Use the Sanctuary fast travel point on the Moon and speak with Eris. Consider a round of the Tire Game if you need a quick break from the quest grind.

Marrow’s Elegy

The Bone Collector might be the toughest one to find of the three parts needed for the Marrow's Elegy quest step.

This step requires you to collect a few bones from three different locations around the Moon. They’re relatively easy to find.

Festering Bone: To get the Festering Bone, you will need to wait around in the Hellmouth for a Public Event to spawn. There are reports that no Public Events are appearing on the Moon, while other players have reported needing to wait for 30 minutes before one shows.

Ritualistic Bone: This is by far the easiest bone to get. Go to Sorrow’s Harbor and into the Lost Sector there. Defeat the boss and open the loot cache to get the Ritualistic Bone.

Bone Collector: The Bone Collector is going to be the trickiest to locate, as it’s a random spawn. However, I’ve had good luck finding him in Anchor of Light, just near where the regional chest is marked on the map.

Thy Honored Conductor

High Conductor defeated: Sulmakta can be found during the elevator ride up to the final boss, Hushladun during The Scarlet Keep strike. This strike can be activated from the Moon Director. The second time the elevator stops, you can find Sulmakta in the right-hand side of the area where the enemies are.

Of Darkest Harmony

The easiest way to record the discomfort, pained cries, and anguished screams of your enemies is to play Public Events and then wait around for the Vex Invasions. These invasions offer a whole lot of enemies, and you should have the quest step done in one or two invasions. This is also a great opportunity to unlock the Vex Offensive if you haven’t already done so.

Choir of the Damned

The last step in acquiring Deathbringer is the quest, Choir of the Damned. Open your map and track the blue banner. Follow the waypoint deep into the Hellmouth and into the Circle of Bones. Approach the banner and activate it. Follow Toland around the maw of the Hellmouth and pass through the door into the pitch black tunnels.

Kill the Wizards at the end of each area. As you enter an area, they will begin singing a deathsong that lasts 60 seconds. If the timer reaches zero, it will kill you. Push through to the Catacombs, at which point you will need to kill the final Deathsinger and claim her skull. Take it back to Eris Morn.

A Death of Nightmares

Visit Eris Morn in Sanctuary on the Moon and speak with her to unlock the Deathbringer Exotic Rocket Launcher. This is a Powerful gear drop and it will drop at +5 of your base Power. Consider saving this for later in your Power grind as it will help bump you up a bit higher.

Deathbringer Exotic Rocket Launcher perks

The Deathbringer Exotic Rocket Launcher is an interesting beast. Unlike other rocket launchers that rely on direct impact, the Deathbringer is more like a shoulder-mounted mortar cannon. Its perks are:

The strategy is to aim above your target, and time the release of the trigger to ensure the orbs rain down and actually hit. The further they fall, the more damage they deal. However, these orbs do disappear after falling a few meters, so there is a maximum distance they can descend. Whether or not this will become a viable option in PVE or PVP is yet to be seen.

Unlocking the Deathbringer Exotic Rocket Launcher is a rather lengthy process. It all starts with completing the Shadowkeep campaign and then working through the Memory of Sai Mota quest. Though it’s not a meta Power weapon option, it’s still worth getting, just in case. Check out the Shacknews Destiny 2 guide for even more Exotic weapon guides.
